Codex CLI
App Store and Google Play reviews in Codex CLI
Add Merci AI to Codex CLI once, then ask about your reviews from the terminal: which ones are waiting, what people complain about, and replies drafted in each reviewer's language.
Set up in a minute
In Merci AI, open Settings › AI assistants (MCP), give the key a name and click Create a key. Copy it now: Merci AI shows it only once.
Add Merci AI to
~/.codex/config.toml. Codex reads the key from an environment variable, so it isn't written in the file:~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.merci] url = "https://getmerciai.com/api/mcp" bearer_token_env_var = "MERCI_KEY"In the terminal where you run Codex, set the variable to your key:
Terminal
export MERCI_KEY="YOUR_MERCI_KEY"Ask in plain words, like the examples below. Every reply waits in Merci AI until you click Publish.

What to ask
“Show my unanswered 1-star and 2-star reviews from this week.”
“Draft replies in the reviewer's language for my German reviews that are still waiting.”
“Which of my apps has the most reviews waiting for a reply?”
“Read my latest 50 reviews and list the bugs people mention most.”
“Write a short, warm reply to the newest review and keep it as a draft in Merci AI.”
What your assistant can do
- Read your apps, reviews, drafts and replies, from both stores
- Have Merci AI write a reply draft in the reviewer's language, within the store's rules and with your app card's facts
- Keep a reply it wrote as the review's draft
What it can't do
- Publish anything: a reply goes out only when you click Publish in Merci AI
- See any account but yours (or your team's, while you're on it)
Good to know
- Each draft Merci AI writes counts toward your plan's drafts for the month.
- You can have up to 5 keys and revoke any of them in Settings › AI assistants (MCP); a revoked key stops working at once.
- Merci AI keeps only a fingerprint of each key, never the key itself.
