How to reply to App Store reviews
Apple lets you answer any review of your app, however old it is, and the reviewer is notified when you do. Here's how replying works in App Store Connect, what Apple recommends, and how to keep up once reviews arrive faster than you can answer them.

Who can reply
The Account Holder, Admin and Customer Support roles can respond to reviews. Customer Support is the role made for this: someone who only has that role goes straight to Ratings and Reviews when they open an app.
Reply to a review
- In Apps, select the app.
- In the sidebar, click Ratings and Reviews.
- At the top right, choose the platform the review was written on.
- Find the review and click Reply.
- Write your reply and click Submit.
App Store Connect doesn't draft replies for you: you write each one yourself, one app and one platform at a time.
Edit or delete a reply
Click Edit Response next to the review, change the text and click Save. To remove the reply, click Edit Response, then Delete Response. You don't have to be the person who wrote a reply to edit it.
What happens after you submit
- A reply can take up to 24 hours to appear on the App Store. Until then it shows as pending in App Store Connect.
- Only one reply per review appears on your product page. Edit it and the latest version is shown, marked as edited.
- The reviewer is notified and can update their review.
What Apple recommends
- Keep it short and answer what the person actually wrote. Apple suggests personal replies rather than the same text for similar reviews.
- Leave out personal information, marketing language and spam.
- Can't answer them all? Start with the lowest ratings and the reviews that mention a technical problem in the current version.
- When an update fixes something people complained about, say so in the release notes and reply to those reviews to tell them.
- After a major release, reply promptly to new and updated reviews.
- For billing or download problems, point the person to Apple Support.
- Don't answer offensive or spam reviews: use Report a Concern under the review instead. The reviewer isn't told that you reported it.
Replying through the App Store Connect API
The same replies can go through the App Store Connect API. GET /v1/apps/{id}/customerReviews lists an app's reviews, and POST /v1/customerReviewResponses publishes a reply, or overwrites the one you already wrote. As in App Store Connect, the reply doesn't appear on the App Store straight away.
Keeping up with many reviews
Merci AI brings the App Store and Google Play reviews of all your apps into one inbox and drafts a reply to each one in the language it was written in. Nothing reaches the App Store until you click Publish, and its App Store key only needs the Customer Support role.
